Pettys Orchard grows, displays and interprets over 200 different types of antique apples. Pettys Orchard is 44 hectares in size. This includes approximately 2 hectares of Demonstration Orchard and 25ha of Commercial Orchard. The remaining area includes the wetland, fruit and nut arboretum, Yarra River and surroundings. Things to see and do * The Yarra provides a magnificent scenic backdrop to Pettys Orchard, making it one of the most beautiful parts of the area. It is also an important bush corridor for wildlife. * A stroll down to the riverbank will reward you with a lovely view. En route you can acquaint yourself with the diverse range of fruit and nut trees. * Explore the sights and smells of an orchard * Rediscover antique apples on a ranger guided walk * Learn about the history of the apple, orcharding and the Petty family. * Visit the bird hide to see local wetland life * Walk through the arboretum of fruit and nut trees en-route to the Yarra River * Enjoy the rural scenery and tranquil setting * Open every Friday for organic produce markets and also by appointment * For school or group tours phone 9431 3657. Groups 15 people minimum, $10 Adult, $6 concession. Looking after the park * Take your rubbish home with you * All native plants and animals are protected * No dogs or other pets are allowed in the park * Leave the park as you find it Precautions While managed by Parks Victoria, 25ha of Pettys is privately leased to a commercial operator. Please respect the rights of the orchardists by not entering this area or picking any apples.
