Malthouse Theatre is at once a treasured building, a theatre company, a creative site and an engine for change. It is also the imaginative expression of 32 full-time staff reaching out to an even bigger number of local, national and international artists, all dedicated to an ongoing conversation with audiences from all walks of life. This conversation chooses contemporary theatre as its vehicle: an annual program of adventurous multi-disciplinary work inspired by writers, directors, designers, choreographers, audio artists and performers. Here the combined possibilities of all the theatre arts are offered centre stage. Dinner and Drinks Your Malthouse visit can only get better by arriving early for a pre-show dinner special at the Malthouse Kitchen. You can also beat the rush at interval and pre-order your drinks or stay and play after the show and enjoy a drink at the bar. Bookshop Located in the foyer of The CUB Malthouse, the Bookshop is open one hour before every performance. It is stocked by Avenue Bookstore and staffed by volunteers. Public Transport From Melbourne CBD, Malthouse is a 12 minute walk or you can catch any tram down St Kilda Rd and alight at Grant St. Or catch the No.1 South Melbourne tram and alight at stop No.19 on Sturt Street.
