Not too far, not too close, 3 minutes walk from Lygon St restaurants, cinema, shopping. Melbourne University, RMIT, Brunswick and fashionable Gertrude St, the Carlton Gardens, Melbourne Museum & IMax 3D Cinema and the Royal Exhibition Buildings are a 10-minute walk, or 20 minutes stroll into the city. Alternatively, you can catch the tram or bus that runs only a street away, into the CDB. From here, you are in easy reach of the Botanical Gardens, MCG or Tennis Centre, South Bank, the casino & Jeff's Shed, Albert Park or onto the beach. It's a convenient easily accessible location from which to head out in any direction or stay in and enjoy the quiet space.
A direct bus to the Parkville Hospital Complex is a few minutes toward the city in Grattan Street.

Behind the 1860's facade is a welcoming modern residence with lots of character, that opens into a green sunken garden and internal deck. It is a private, quiet home that was our home for almost forty-five years. It was designed as a beautiful and practical family space. We are now very happy to share this with you to make it "your home" while you are here. It is a perfect place to relax or to create a base for your holiday or work. It Will suit a family, a couple or a group of friends.
We like to customise the details to suit each guest, there are plenty of "what's on" brochures, maps and tram time tables.

A space for family and friends

There are 3 bedrooms with comfortable real beds, that will sleep 7. Two of the rooms have queen beds, the other a double and a single bed. There are 2 large living spaces separated by a small garden and an outside deck area, and a really great functional kitchen if you decide to dine in. The bathroom has a child-friendly bath, and a separate shower - and skylight for loads of natural light. There is a second toilet downstairs. If staying longer, the laundry with soaking tubs, sorting shelf, ironing facilities, dryer and drying racks is very convenient.

The larger living area has a smart TV, internet hub, charging dock and a gas log fire - perfect for colder nights. On warmer evenings, open wide the dining room doors to enjoy the deck for outside living.

The bedrooms include plenty of hanging space & storage - for all your purchases.
For those with a car, there is parking in the streets - on either side of the property. Further directions on parking on the booking request.

The house is split level, there are stairs, so please see the plan of the house included in the photos to check if it will be suitable for you.

We have moved a number of times ourselves, so we know what makes the difference in this time.

Secondary schools are easily accessible from here, tram via the city, down St Kilda road or bus along Elgin / Johnston St to Kew and Hawthorn. Melbourne University High School is a short walk across the University of Melbourne campus.

There are also direct links to Bundoora RMIT via Smith St Tram and La Trobe University via Rathdowne St bus. The Royal Melbourne, Royal Woman's and The Children's Hospitals are all located within walking distance or bus down Grattan St.

The Carlton Baths and sports centre is a short walk along Rathdowne Street, perfect when the really hot day hits. Bring your bike helmets or purchase special price helmets from 7 Eleven and make use of the Melbourne BIke Share only a block away.

Special events

For those visiting for a special event - sports, exhibitions, trade shows, theatre and shopping weekends, award ceremony - come with friends, work or relax here.

For those that have been to the Australian Open or Grand Prix or other sports in Melbourne's arenas, and need to escape the crowds, come home and relax and watch the replays.

For those working hard at a trade show at Exhibitions Buildings or the show grounds, enjoy the comfort of inner city home lifestyle for the duration. There is plenty of reception spaces to de-brief discuss the day's events and share with friends or on your own.
