* PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING BOOKINGS FOR 3 PEOPLE, OR USE OF THE SECOND BEDROOM/OFFICE, UNTIL NOVEMBER 2022.
Located only 7.5km north-west of the central business district and a 15 minute drive from Tullamarine Airport, trams, buses, trains, taxis and planes are all within easy access. It’s an ideal position for visiting many of Melbourne’s top attractions, as well as some of greater Victoria’s spectacular destinations, while still having easy access to the city centre.
When you stay with us, you will be our sole guest and have your own private space on the upper level of our home, which includes:
• bedroom with block-out blinds and queen bed with quality mattress, pillows and bed linen for a great night’s sleep • living area with comfortable leather couch, 55” flat screen tv, bar fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee making facilities (including plates, bowls, cups, glasses and cutlery) • large bathroom with bath, rain shower in tub, luxury towels, hair-dryer and essential toiletries • separate toilet • table and chairs for internal and external use • large timber deck overlooking the rear garden • new carpets (except in wet areas) • heating and air-conditioning • wi-fi • your own private entrance, so that you can come and go as you please • from November 2022, if you book for 3 people, a third bedroom/office with single sofa bed for 1 person (spring mattress measuring 99cm W x 187cm L), built in wardrobe, desk and office chair
Interaction with guests
We live on the lower level and will be there for you if you need us, but we respect your privacy. After checking you in (if we're home), you likely won't see us for the rest of your stay.
Dining out
Victoria is the food and wine capital of Australia and Melbourne’s city centre has a myriad of restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars in which you can experience some of the world’s greatest cuisines.
Closer to us, nearby Mt Alexander Road boasts a lively entertainment precinct with restaurants, cafés and bars, while historical Union Road and Puckle Street offer a more laid back dining atmosphere. All can be accessed in just a few minutes by car or tram. Alternatively, take a stroll to celebrity chef Gary Mehigan's Boathouse restaurant, on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, or one of the many other restaurants that are only a stone’s throw away.
Nearby attractions
Maribyrnong River: With the beautiful Maribyrnong River at the bottom of the hill and parklands on either side, you can leave the city behind and have a change of pace. Go for a walk or run along the river, or have a hit of tennis or golf just around the corner, at Riverside Golf and Tennis Centre.
Flemington Racecourse: If you’re visiting for the Spring Racing Carnival, Flemington Racecourse is only 3km (a short tram ride) away. Moonee Valley Racecourse is also nearby, if you’re coming earlier for the Cox Plate.
Melbourne Showgrounds: Even closer is the Melbourne Showgrounds, if you’re visiting for the Royal Melbourne Show or one of the many trade shows, exhibitions, expos or festivals that are held there each year.
Highpoint Shopping Centre: Melbourne is Australia's best shopping destination, and we are also a short tram ride, or walk along the river, to Australia’s fourth largest shopping centre, Highpoint, with over 500 specialty fashion, homewares and lifestyle stores, and even a Hoyts cinema complex if you feel like seeing a movie while you’re there.
Other attractions within easy reach by train, tram or bike include historical Williamstown, Etihad Stadium, the Queen Victoria Market, Federation Square and Southbank.
Day trips
We are an ideal base for day-trips into the west, north and north-west parts of Victoria. Visit the rugged beaches and wineries around Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, 1 hour away, before doing one of the world's most scenic coastal drives along the Great Ocean Road. Visit the mineral spas, wellness retreats, and wineries around Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges, 50 minutes away, or the goldfields and wineries further afield around Ballarat and Heathcote, 1.5 hours away.
If you love wine, you will love this part of Victoria in particular. Heathcote, the closest warm climate wine region to Melbourne, is renowned as one of the best Shiraz growing regions in Australia and famous for its velvety and often spicy Shiraz. Wineries in the other cooler climate regions are popular for their production of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wines. The wineries of Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Macedon region, which begins only 30 minutes away from us, at Sunbury, and spreads to the rolling hills of the Macedon Ranges and Kyneton, are also some of the few regions in Australia with predominantly small, family-owned wineries, and offer a unique tasting experience in that the winemaker will usually be pouring your tasting at the cellar door.
If you’d like to do a day trip and you don’t have a car, check out Groupon for discounted group tours to popular destinations like the Great Ocean Road.
